Different by Design: From Misunderstood to Naked and Unashamed
Navigating Emotional Differences, Personality, and Perpetual Problems
We don’t have to experience things the same way to feel close. A healthy marriage isn’t built on two people who think, feel, and respond identically, but on two people who remain curious about one another and learn to make room for their differences.
God created each of us uniquely and with purpose, shaping our emotional blueprints through our upbringing, experiences, and the world around us. These differences can sometimes leave us feeling misunderstood or disconnected, but they can also become opportunities to grow in love, understanding, and intimacy. Rather than trying to eliminate our differences, we are invited to understand them more deeply, navigate them with greater compassion, and allow God to use them to transform us.
What might it look like to be truly naked and unashamed in marriage—to be fully known, even in our differences, and to create a relationship where both spouses can feel safe, accepted, and loved?

Breaking Bread: Nourishing your vocation through faith, food, and virtue
Living a Christian life calls us to love God and our neighbor and to grow in virtue in every aspect of our lives, even at the dinner table. Rooted in the Catholic understanding that food is more than mere nourishment, this session explores how our relationship with food and the shared family meal can become opportunities to grow in holiness and live out our vocation to marriage and family life.
The cardinal virtues of justice, prudence, temperance, and fortitude offer a framework for approaching food with intentionality, gratitude, and love. As we gather for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we receive a foretaste of the heavenly wedding feast, reminding us that our faith is profoundly shaped by a meal in which Christ gives Himself to us. Drawing from this Eucharistic foundation, we will explore practical ways to embrace the rhythms of the liturgical seasons in our homes, cultivate virtue in our eating habits, and transform everyday meals into opportunities for communion, hospitality, and the faithful formation of our families.
Alexis Weber is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and founder of Sacred Table, where she integrates nutrition therapy with the wisdom of the Catholic faith. She is also a practitioner with MyCatholicDoctor. With more than 20 years of experience in the food and nutrition industry and a background in culinary arts, Alexis is passionate about helping others cultivate a healthy and peaceful relationship with food through a faith-based, whole-person approach that honors the dignity of the human person. She believes that even the ordinary act of eating can be an opportunity to grow in holiness by practicing the cardinal virtues of prudence, justice, temperance, and fortitude. Through her work, Alexis hopes to help others move beyond rigid food rules and discover how nourishment can support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, fostering greater gratitude for God's gifts and a deeper love of God and neighbor in everyday life. Her commitment to food, faith, and hospitality extends beyond professional practice and into parish life.
A parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Alexis is actively involved in her parish community, where she leads the Friends of St. Martha, a ministry celebrating the Catholic call to hospitality and service where they prepare the sanctuary for each season. Alexis and her husband, Jordan, live in Austintown with their three children.
